While it will not answer your question directly, going to user groups and events will allow you to talk to customers running workloads in production, noting that most of these customers are not public references. Oracle workloads make up a large percentage of IFL usage (and no, I do not have any exact numbers to share).
I can however recommend this user group meeting where some of our largest customers will be in attendance, speaking and networking at: http://www.oraclezsig.org/ For other events, I find this page to be very helpful: http://www.vm.ibm.com/events/ Hopefully this helps, Kurt Acker Cell: 607-348-8197 IBM Smarter Planet, Smarter Data Centers Virtualization and Enterprise System Management Technologies From: "Ambros, Thomas" <thomas_amb...@keybank.com> To: LINUX-390@VM.MARIST.EDU Date: 03/14/2016 11:44 AM Subject: How many shops... ? Sent by: Linux on 390 Port <LINUX-390@VM.MARIST.EDU> My searches of the archives are not productive, probably ill formed. Likewise, general internet searches not coming up with much useful. We've asked this question of our IBM account team, in the range of their territory, and are waiting for an answer. I've seen statements at conferences and presentations where we are told "x% of all new zSeries hardware shipped includes IFLs, moreover y% are IFL-only", but that doesn't necessarily reflect production implementations (though one would think it'd be reasonably close). To start to contest the perception that Linux on system Z is a 'one-off', where would one find out for themselves roughly how many shops in North America are running production implementations of Linux on system Z and what proportion of all zSeries sites that might be?
