I can't get it to fail with nosmp but also have a stable kernel
normally spoken if I use an UP version.

I'll rebuild 2.2.14 SMP and see if seti kills my system and also will
try this with UP.

Note that I tried 2.2.15pre14 and with nosmp, seti (4x) still kills the
system.
