Personally I think this problem is totally unrelated to linux in any way.  I
come to this conclusion plainly because, my box is just as unstable in any OS
as it is in linux.  I've seen nothing linking the hardlocks to linux at all.  I
don't use the hpt controller with any disks, and I will recognise that that
could be an issue in some cases, but likely not, as andre has his running just
fine.
