If you've ever looked at Loren's webpage, you would soon understand
that Loren is properly referred to as...."it".

Hypocrite.

How many homeless bums have computers to use your "free" software?

If you were TRULY helpful, you would give them a COMPUTER to run it
on.

But, of course, you're only interested in symbolism, rather than
actually making a difference in anybody's life.

Tell us...did you also go around giving homeless bums shopping
carts, so that they could.....remain homeless bums....

If you mix 'concepts' and "metaphor" with Richard, you're screwed. His
recent exchange with Dan seem to show that, contrary to my prior
impression, Richard is a very smart (and very stupid; you know how that
goes) person. Rather than being incapable of grasping an abstraction,
he seems to be quite in love with his ability to grasp abstractions, and
refuses to recognize the concept of a 'metaphor'. I think he truly does
believe that there is no difference between real objects and programming
'objects'.

And here again is the opportunity to 'reverse engineer' a bit of what we
know as Richard. He *likes* the idea of only having one paradigm.
Perhaps I was wrong again; its not that he can grasp abstractions, or
can't, but that he doesn't want to, and wishes he didn't have to. This
seems to me to relate to the psychobabble nonsense he tends to spew.

I don't think he quite understands the concept as a reasonable person
would, either. But I, also, had some reservations of your regarding
paradigms and programmers in a metaphysical perspective.

OK, I get it. I'll agree that whether two paradigms combined is one
paradigm could certainly be considered metaphysical, seeing as it is
defined as being non-empirical.

He does do the 'arguing against his imagination' quite a lot, doesn't
he?

Thanks for your time. Hope it helps.

No...I *DO* get it.

I'm employed.
Therefore, your premise that I'm unemployed is false.

But...let's say, for example...let's say your right..
Let's say I'm unemployed.

Please explain why I'm not on here begging for money.....

False premise.

I don't see you signing up to serve in the military. Why is that?

Personally, I don't give a fuck if US military personnel are given
access to USENET. Have you ever served in a Theater of operations?

USENET is damn-cheap entertainment for guys doing a thankless
jobs, thousands of miles away from home, with little to occupy
their time, and a thousand ways to come home in a body bag.

Aren't standards wonderful?

Runs just fine on a couple of old Sparc's here. Which flavor of Windows
would you suggest instead?

But detecting an existing FAT32 disk and setting up dual booting is just too
much to ask of it...

I heard bad things about the 810 chipset and avoided it, so I haven't had
that problem. In fact I don't think I've had a box yet where the memory
detection added somewhere around 2.0.36 failed.

But for getting something simple wrong - the last time I installed Win2k
on an all-scsi box, it would only format 8 gigs of a 9 gig drive, even
on the 2nd disk. What's with that?

I don't have any experience working with TclTk and incorporating it
into different languages, but it's cross-platform and it has an HTML
widget in there...

By the way, I don't have one yet. I'm relying on GtkEditable (not so
nice), but that'll change as soon as I can get GtkHTML or CscHTML to
compile.

Remember that Ivan is the guy who has been single-handedly maintaining
Debian packages since the days when there was no official Debian
support. Us KDE/Linux users have crashed his servers and taxed his
resources many times over. It's truly amazing that he's lasted this
long without complaining once -- and he really was provoked by a quite
exasperating email exchange (I've seen snippets). Not easy sometimes.

Note also, that Ivan is not leaving people in the cold. He is still
the maintainer of the official KDE Debian packages *and* all his
sources are CVS. He has also offered to sponsor Debian developers
willing to help with other KDE packages.
