Because the Demoncrooks have been repeatedly caught in the act of bribing
them with cigarettes; rounding them up off the streets and packing them
on buses, etc.

Why do you think "motor voter" was so important to the Demoncrooks?

Because they KNOW that most welfare parasites are too lazy to go down to
the voter registration window at the local city hall....but if you make
a law stating that their Welfare Case Worker has to give them a voter
registration, then it swells the Demoncrook voter rolls.

Sounds pretty inefficient when you consider that a 300 dpi scanner
and optical character recognition software can be obtained for US $150,
speeding up the process by about 100x.

I wonder if they were previously using Unix and decided to "upgrade" it to W2K this
week? We saw the same thing happen when they started "upgrading" Hotmail.

Does anyone know what they were using for DNS servers previously?

Rumor going around says that they already have. And that the people they
contracted with are using Linux boxes!

If they are Microsoft Partners, then most likely, they are contractually
obligated to have a LoseDOS box serve up the corporate home page.

What the he** is "slrnpull?". Look, this is simple: Windows 2K is both
granular and stable. So stop your whining. The simple fact is that Windows
2K is much easier to administer than Red Had or any other Linux Distrib.
ever thought about. It seems to me that Linux adherents *LOVE* obscure
references to programs that are generally included in Linux distributions.
It seems to me that a lot of folk substitute "obscure and obdurate" command
line instructions for intellect. Real intellect comes from making the
obscure crystal clear; an objective Linux has never embraced. Indeed, Linux
seems to substitute simple rote memory for intelligence...don't believe me?
Read any Linux group. There you see people from all over Earth parroting "/
this and .that".

Which is why so many big companies have super-strict rules about what their can
hang on their networks. If you bypass normal channels, someone doesn't get their
palms greased in the customary fashion. We can't have that!

I suspect "Who do you sue?" is just a euphemism for "Who's going to grease your
palms?". Middle managers and purchasing agents will understand the code.

Ha! I hit the reset switch more often with Red Hat, SUSE, and Debian than I
ever did with Win2K! Moreover, Windows actually worked (with-out crashing)
something none of the above mentioned distributions of Linux were able to
do.

Yeah, the astroturfers like to pretend that it's only Linux fans who despise MS
products. I had some association with the Chemistry Department here last
semester, and heard some rather tart comments about Microsoft over there, too.
I particularly remember one that came out during lecture in response to a "why
doesn't this work right" question, and another from the manager of their
multimedia lab (in response to an identical question, of course).

It's only people hanging on the bottom rung of clubieness who think Microsoft
makes Great Stuff. You can get a laugh in almost any crowd by comparing
something to a MS product. People get the joke. If you want a 90% share of
the desktop, people are going to know how well your stuff works. Or doesn't,
as the case may be.

Unless a salesman takes you to dinner, gives you a small "gift" out of sheer
friendship, supplies some whores^stewardesses to host one of your employee's
bachelor party, etc., and then suggests an "upgrade" for your company's IT
infrastructure.

The plan is not to use it as a desktop machine but purely a box to do
builds for Sony PS2 work.

Well, I rarely use IE5, I generally watch Netscape crash instead. Not seen
too many problems with that so far.
