Try SuSE, Red Hat or Debian. They are easy to set up, but Debian needs a
bit more know how in configuring. And have a look here for

Cargo planes with MUCH shorter range, and MUCH smaller cargo volume
and lift capacity were used for STRATEGIC lift in the China-Burma-India
theater of operations in World War 2.

And most weapons experts will tell you that most weapons are capable
of fulfilling roles which the pentagon paper-pushers have NOT designated
to them.

Look at any war, and, if the people at Training and Doctrine had their
way, a good many SUCCESSFUL commanders would be sent away for employing
equipment in ways not endorsed by TRADOC.

Actualy, Linux *is* a server operating system. It's also a desktop
operating system, a super-reliable game platform, an embedded platform
(if not, it can easily be made to be!), fun to develop on,
writes beautiful papers (actually, lyx + LaTeX do that, if one
wants to quibble) with math typesetting, and of course is poised to,
if not take over the world, at least change it.

(I'd say it already has.)

Swiss Army Knife, anyone? :-) (Or perhaps that should be
"Finnish Army Knife"? :-) )

Of course a two year old could do this too. But any reasonably intelligent
person would not call this "setting up Windows".

I'll explain it to you:

The contention is that if one were allowed to transfer the license
to another "computer" (which Microsoft has defined as little as
changing the network interface card), Microsoft would need to charge
more for the license because people would purchase fewer of them.

The obvious problem is, people don't know that they can't take their
old licenses and use them on "new" computers (new meaning you
replaced at least a bit of the hardware); so people use the old
license on the less-than-fully-dressed machine (even if it isn't one
of the infamous "naked" machines we hear so much about). In turn,
Microsoft must "educate" OEMs, end-users, and corporations that they
must re-purchase the license for Windows even though they already have
said license.

Funny, eh?

They could avoid this entire problem by charging the real "fair"
market value of Windows up-front and allow ulimited use on any one
machine at any given time. They don't want to do this, however,
because they are afraid of the reprecussions involved. People would
panic when they saw the pricetag, but the dumb lemmings will go ahead
and pay a small amount every time instead.

The obvious alternative, for someone who's had a tie around their neck
for too many years, is to:

o insult your customers by calling them pirates (a murderous bunch
of people with no regard for law)

o bribe the middleman like a drug dealer to rat out thier clients

o send expensive audiors to harass people they don't like (again,
when has any major media publication ever had a visit from the
BSA? Never you say? Why not?)

Then Eric comes in and says that nothing is wrong, which is very silly
because otherwise he seems like a reasonable person. There are many
faults with Linux/BSD that I will discuss, but it seems that any time
Microsoft is mentioned to Eric, he must defend them to the hilt
regardless the issue.

PS - You may want to lose the childish vernacular (funkenbusch?), it
does nothing but detract from your arguments.

LOL so you can lock up Jehovah witnesses yourself too in the US? What a
country, completely insane.

On the other hand the insanity is completely the other way round over
here. If you try to detain a burglar over here it's very likely that you
are the one who ends up in prison, and not the burglar.

Are you sure about that? There's over 125,000 police officers in the UK, and
we're a lot smaller than the US... so it sounds like a surprisingly small
number.
