True.  However JFFS2 format didn't change for a few months now.  It
shouldn't be much of a problem in the future.

True.  The same probably apply to ramdisks as well.

However I wanted my Assabet-RedBoot howto to be simple.  Instructing people
to build their own JFFS2 tools would have increased the failure factor and
require yet more RTFM.  When things are initially working with the sample
files then it's more motivating to create your own.
