Hi! I am working on a CDB89712.0 (I assume that is Rev A, though I don't have anything in the official documentation listing it as Rev A). I have no problems using 2.4.6-rmk1-ray1 and already have a running system with RT ported onto it. I am quite sure mine couldn't be a rev B or a rev C. I haven't ever experienced CRC errors with hermit/shoehorn though the bluecat downloader dl did show that at times.
I don't think its the serial or ethernet ports. Have you tried the older 2.2.1 kernels (from bluecat which I presume are shipped with the board)? That's just to make sure that the flash is working fine. I guess you're following the instructions on the website shown by Cam, which I did. They work straight without any changes actually.
