what about the SDRAM chips? my revC board has

  NEC
  D4564163G5
  -A80-9JF
  0011LEU35

if yours are different, you may need to adjust the SDRAM timings on the
hermit startup code. i do recall getting some checksum problems a long time
ago when i was first setting up the board, and tweaking the memory timings
helped.

btw, sebastian, i did try the shoehorn and hermit images you sent me. they
downloaded fine to my board, and i was able to download a kernel image to flash
with no problems. it does seem to be a problem with your hardware.

one thing, when i booted my kernel with your loader, uart2 spit out 'Error: a'
if you use the kernel patch from rolands website, you should be fine. if you
use the latest kernels (which have most of that already merged) you will need
to change the architecture number in the linux.c setup to match the official
cdb89712 number.
