I don't agree with any of the points raised by you. 

1. nslookup will certainly not work unless you have got your nameserver entry in 
/etc/resolv.conf

2. The ip's you have supplied are not nameservers of MTNL

3. You just can't use anybody's nameserver. I am not sure about this, but i tried to 
use vsnl's nameserver and it did'nt worked, at least with me
