I have been running diald for a couple weeks now and like it a lot.
I'm having some trouble keeping diald from redialing, however. My
reading of the man page is that the "two-way" option should mean that
if the remote machine disconnects me,diald shouldn't redial. Is that
right?
I have two-way in my diald.conf, but 10 seconds after the far end
hangs up my machine dials again. When there is no further traffic, it
then hangs up again a minute later.
This is particularly frustrating because the machine is in my bedroom
and hearing the modem dial at 2 in the morning kind of annoys my wife.
In addition, my phone is metered, but only on a per call basis--I get
30 free per month and after that they charge per call (but I can stay
on forever :). My my ideal is to stay up as long as possible, but
then not dial back until I have a reason to.
BTW, where are the archives? I looked for them at www.reference.com
and at www.lugs.ch as mentioned in the web page and couldn't find
anything.
Thanks,
