I got the impression from the man page that pppd needs to know the IP
of the remote terminal server in advance, which is no good if your POP
has multiple terminal servers. From the man page:

              With this option,  the  remote
              IP  address  must  be  specified by the user on the
              command line or in an options file.
              
Because of that, I never bothered to try it. Perhaps it's smart enough
to replace the "dummy" IP with the terminal server's actual IP? Has
anyone tried it? Maybe I'll try it tonight.
