V2.3.10 will work fine with v2.2.12
You will experience problems when you use diald's: "mode ppp" "remote
xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx" and "dynamic" together. As the remote IP addressing is
not supported with pppd v2.3.10. I have also experienced problems with
pppd v2.3.10 when using MSCHAP authentication when using kppp.

But then why it is distributed by RH6.1 with 2.2.12 kernel ?
Anyway, it seems to work fine for me despite the complain.
