that worked,
i just thought it would've picked up hostname from DNS when getting the ip.
Redhat kickstart systems i setup didn't need the
option host-name "vm00"
so i didn't think this did.

Well, you don't set a name here, at least not one for the client to see; try
adding
host-name "vm00";
after your fixed-address line, that might help.
