That is the *worst* reason to switch to a journaling filesystem.. they
don't guarantee anything for powerfailures. .. this is an FAQ for
Journaling filessystems...

Power failures can cause serious *irrecoverable* damage to your data.. you
are better off without reiserfs .. for which there are no data recovery
tools... I'd recommend you to switch to ext3 ... which provides an easy
migration path and since it's backward compatible to ext2 you also get a
wider range of data recovery tools/methods.

(I personally went through hell when I lost about 1000 odd mails on
reiserfs. I was lucky that I managed to recover almost all of them.)
