From my limited knowledge I see that everytime I create a new initrd lilo needs to be updated but it doesnt seem to be so in the case of grub. As far as I know the bootloader needs to know about the hard disk if it wants to do anything constructive. That explains the need to update lilo while creating a new initrd. What is happening with grub ?? I just update /etc/grub.conf and grub somehow is aware of the new kernel modules even though I havent told grub how to access the SCSI module needed to read /etc/grub.conf ??
