Thanks for your mail. . No, I am not able to login as any other user. . Yes, I did consider the 'shadow' related issue. However, I ran test using the 'pwck' command and also inspected the files (both passwd and group) visually to doubly make sure. I am at my wits end on this :-(. It's been 10+ hrs since I have been trying to trouble shoot this problem and it beats me.
