Firstly, many afficiandos claim that CDs don't give true fidelity
either, since the process of conversion from analog (LP) to digital
(CD) necessarily loses some information.  If you want true fidelity,
they say, stick to vinyl.

Note, I'm not the one saying this; my ears have been blasted by loud
rock in my misspent youth into pieces of cauliflower and as far as I'm
concerned MP3s are just fine.  Just thought I'd point it out.

Creating audio CDs, OTOH, is a different matter.  What gets recorded
onto the CD is neither .cda nor .wav: cdrdao converts either type of
file into audio signals and writes those onto the CD.  So it doesn't
really matter which type of file you give cdrdao to write, since the
end result will be the same.
