Actually, I also use KDE. What I did was, I went to the Control Center, and chose keyboard layout. There, I added Tamil and Hindi, and enabled "Show Country Flag" in switching option. Now, in *all* applications, including GTK ones, I am able to use Indian text entry by merely toggling the country flag at the bottom left. Thanks a lot!
