Hi,
Thanx for the speedy reply.
As far as the hubs are concerned, if my NICs are going to be 10mbps and not
10/100mbps then I could make do with the cheaper 10mbps hubs, if i can get
them that is. But what happens when i want to upgrade. (Thats a
nobrainer). Thow away the cheap hub and get new NICs and hub. (Just
thinking aloud)
As far as the network is concerned, the moot point of my question is that
if I dload the files and distribute them to the nodes (Win9x), then what
kind of security can i excercise on them. Can i restrict access to only
user of each node only and that too for a particular user on each node?
Also, I will not be doing the day to day administration of the network or
the dloading from the internet. So I will be confortable if the internet
connectivity is on a Win machine so that my system eng. who is Win guy can
use it without depending on me. How do i do that? Pls note, internet
access in not essential, in fact prohibited for the nodes (cuts down
productivity..says the boss).
TIA
Great list
Jayanth
