In addition to the point about your carrier supporting data calls, you may
need to look at whether the ISP accepts ISDN and whether your phone is
configured to expect them. My experience has been that setting up for ISDN
and dialling a non-ISDN site causes an immediate disconnection, while with
one carrier here, calling an ISDN site without the correct configuration
causes a long unsuccessful negotiation when the call is connected.
The Ericsson user manual (in PDF on the CD that comes with the phone) helped
me a lot with these problems.
