Well, I had to use irattach with un-patched -test10 before I could see
my phone (motorola L7389) as an IrCOMM device.

I tried what you suggested, and the driver loaded and obtained a
hw-address on the irda0 interface, however when I tried to use
irobex_palm3 to send a file I had the following:

irlap_change_speed(), setting speed to 9600
Assertion failed! hashbin != NULL,irqueue.c,hashbin_insert,line=220
Assertion failed! irlmp != NULL,irlmp.c,irlmp_register_link,line=263
