I forgot to mention (from lkarmafs README):

So, you can store your podcasts under arbritary directory names,
not necesarily derived from the mp3 tags.  However, I guess rsync
will not work well in this setting, because (current) lkarmafs
does not distinguish empty directories from non-existing ones. 

But I think what you want can be easyly achieved by a simple
shell-script that checks directory contents and deletes or copies
files accordingly.
