Hopefully the guidelines that we gave are enough for you to fix it.
Otherwise I can give you more details. My wife demanded me to fix it

Read the appropriate entries in Documentation/Configure.help (you can also
pop them up if you use "make menuconfig" or "make xconfig") to figure out
which CONFIG_APM* options you want to try. It appears that sometimes it's
a matter of guesswork to find out which options are compatible with your
laptop.

I have a this same card. You need to go to www.creaf.com or
www.creativelabs.com and download the banshee driver for linux from their
banshee support files area. the instructions are there in the gzip file.
Very easy to install and set up. If you have questions, email me or icq

I think I know where Robert is going with this one. I am
working on a similar project and have been wondering the
exact same question that Robert asked.
In my case, I am making an mp3 player that, when finished,
does not need to be useable in the traditional sense of how
one would use a computer. It just needs to be able to power
on and start up a custom application that I am writing to
play mp3's from the cd rom drive.
I need a way for this system to allow for sudden power off's
since it will be used more like a piece of stereo equipment
than like a computer.
I have a suspicion that Robert is building a similar machine
for use in his car. Am I right Robert?
So, now someone can help two of us with one answer.
Thanks,
Eric

I've never tried this before but I think it should work. Here's my idea.
First of all, why have an HD at all? Have a boot disk with kernel and
ramdisk image on it (kinda like what you would use to install linux). The
ramdisk image is loaded from the floppy and is rw in memory. I'm not sure
what kind of programs you are using but a simple command line mp3 player
(mpg123, etc) should fit on the disk with no problems. If not you could just
mount a hd read-only and put other stuff of it, or better yet, just run 'em
off the CD. This isn't very detailed but it's an idea. See the lilo and
kernel docs for more info on ramdisks. You might also want to take a look at
the slackware boot/root disks to see an example of a minimal root
filesystem.

You need to boot from a rescue disk. (Does Red Hat provide one?)

Red Hat 5.x is a glibc-2.0 system. If you want to use both
libc5 and glibc-2.0, then you might want to consult
http://www.imaxx.net/~thrytis/glibc/Glibc2-HOWTO.html .
If you want to use both glibc-2.0 and glibc-2.1, then (for
all practical purposes) you are out of luck.

Hello,
I just installed some RPM's on my Redhat 5.2
system. Can anybody tell me if I can add a link
(and/or icon) to these programs within X-Windows.
I'm ver new with the system, and allready spent a
lot of time finding out how to install the RPM's,
but to me it seems stupid to start these programs
from the x-terminal over and over again, while
there is a nice X-window possibility.
Can anybody give me some more info about my
question, and if possible, describe how to do
this.
Thanx in advance,

On my system there're four math libraries: libm, libmx,

in another math lib?

At least it would be explicitly stated on the command line.
Then people wouldn't be confused when they had to put -lm
because it would be consistent; then you wouldn't've found
16,000 archived messages on it. And that was our common goal,
wasn't it?

I've not used Backup Exec but do use BRU2000PE. BRU *seems* to
be a robust, completely featured backup utility and I've not
experienced any problems with it. But I've not had to recover from a
tape yet. <knock on wooden head>
There is a TCL/Tk X front end for BRU. While it's no Flash Harry as
one might get with a Windows program, it does provide all the basic
functionality you might want for archiving (full, incremental,
differential), restoring, scheduling, logging, multiple volumes,
verification (both checksum and byte comparison), compression,
protection, etc.) The PE version doesn't allow for redirection on
restore though. Check EST's web site (http://www.estinc.com) for
complete details.
I didn't purchase BRU as a licensed copy of version 15 was included
with the Official Red Hat 5.0 distribution I purchased. This normally
sells for US$89 but comes with no support from EST. Version 15 is still
the current version so may be worthwhile picking up a used copy of RH
5.0 or 5.1 to get a licensed copy of BRU2000PE. I don't think Red
Hat included it in RH 5.2, though.
BTW, my tape drive is a Connor CTMS-3200, takes QIC-Wide 3080
format tapes. The kernel SCSI driver identified it as /dev/st0 and BRU
found it/operates it without any further fuss.
Cheers,
Rob

mh gives you several options -- exmh, mutt, mh-e in emacs, for front
ends, or the command line programs. Some people use Gnus, which is
also a newsreader, for mail because it will thread your emails. Very
useful for mailing lists, I guess.
I like mh because I can keep track of my mails without having to go
into a separate email program. I've never tried mutt, but exmh
wouldn't run on my system and I've always preferred mh-e/emacs,
anyway.

Well it seems fair to say that one finds Miami superior because it
has desirable features that PPPD does not, which seems to be what
Webster is saying.
(The thread originated with someone saying that they had tried
Miami, and it didn't impress them at all, in comparison
