Ahh! Not really. It won't hurt either. But not a windfall though. ;-)

Yeah. I've noticed that too. But it's still at a HUGH lost comparing to

If not.

How come nobody ever even give me $25.00 for not doing anything!?

Anyway. You have sold your code for profit. But just won't admit it.
Because you know the whole idea of GNU-GPL, FSF and profit takings are
contradictory to one another. So, you have to keep finding, making
excuses for yourself to deny the true. Correct?

access control disabled, clients can connect from any host

What am I doing wrong. I have seen other people connect using this same scheme

Because localhost (almost) always maps to 127.0.0.1 (or yourself) so farg is
trying to open an X display on itself not on your other system - try setting
display to the IP address of the system running the X server.

You can use

SuperProbe

to get info about the card. For the monitor, if you don't have a manual
with specs in it, you can guess the type of monitor (e.g. can do
1024x768@70Hz, etc). Both Xconfigurator and XF86Setup let you choose the
monitor this way. Unless the monitor is some old single frequency antique,
it should work find.

Looks like what you want to do is bridging. A search on "bridging" at
google.com/linux brings up lots of useful links.

No, the pop server (by which I mean the actual daemon, ipop3d, not the
machine itself) only allows clients to retrieve their mail.

You'll still need to direct outgoing mail to an SMTP server somewhere (one
that will relay mail from your domain).

There may be some confusion because you can direct mail to a machine called
pop.foo.com, but it's still going to port 25 on pop.foo.com.

Perhaps expect is what you are looking for?

I see a few things at freshmeat.net, but I'm not sure what search string to
use for the best hits ("test" brings up a lot of irrelevant stuff,
"automate" is worse).

Subject: Simple question about CD-Writing for Linux
Date: Thu, 10 Aug 2000 06:34:49 GMT

Hi,

I have Red Hat Linux 6.1 with the 2.2.12-20 kernel. And I just
installed a Hewlett Packard CD-Writer 9310i. It works in Windows and it
suggests with it being set to the "Cable Select" jumper. I'm just
wondering if Linux works with Cable Select? Or do I have to put the
jumper on Slave or Master? My CD-Reader which came with the computer is
Master I think (probably). So does that mean I put the CD-Burner on the
Slave jumper? And also if I have Plug and Play enabled on Linux will it
autodetect the CD-Writer? If not, is there any other way?

Please tell me anything on making it work, thanks.

Subject: Total System Lockups
Date: 10 Aug 2000 06:36:21 GMT

Help!

I need some assistance with debugging some total system
lockups I've been having!

I'm not sure what's causing it, other than when I kill
the ppp link, the system completely freezes! The behaviour
is random and "seems" to have started when I added the
Tekram DC-390 SCSI-2 controller.

Yes, I know, it may be an interrupt problem, but how
exactly do I go about checking things? What files, etc.?

For starters, the modem is a US Robotics 56K FAX INT.
Unlike the SoundBlaster ViBRA16X, which is configured
with isapnp.conf, I have all the modem lines in that
file commented out. These are the lines dumppnp created.
I have my BIOS set with 0x03f8, IRQ 4 as COM1. On
boot up, 0x03f8 and 0x2f8 are recognized as serial ports
with IRQ 4 and IRQ 3, respectively. The UARTs appear
as the devices. This allows me to use the modem, but
I'm a bit wary now if this is also the cause of my lockups.

If you have a bit of time, please help!

Thanks!

It won't work until the YaST has a chance at it. The real setting is
here:

# cat /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_forward
0

If the value is "0" then no routing between networks.
If the value is "1" then you can route from one network to the other.

To set it do:

echo 1 > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_forward

Which will work until next reboot. YaST will pick up the configuration
you set above and enable routing at boot time.

I beleive that re-building the kernel is pointless.
