What pisses me off is the snide "Don't like RH? Use Debian!" remarks, or
"debian does it better..."
Yeh like someone should/would change distributions because their clock didn't
adjust for daylight savings.
Who gives a rat's? I'm using RedHat. So there. :P Yeh some things suck
with it, but nothing that can't be fixed with downloading newer versions of
stuff and modifying a couple of scripts. I'm sure the same thing could be
said about debian: one valuable lesson that linux constantly re-iterates is
that software is never _really_ finished, it just improves.
But what would _I_ know? I'm running RedHat. I must be a newbie. Sheesh I
shouldn't have tried installing the Linux Router Project on an old box I had.
.tar.gz files? What are they? I only know rpm. Oh hang on, I was successful
uncompressing, compiling and installing it, on a 80M hard drive (something I'm
not sure many people would have tried - the guys at the lrp reccommend using a
floppy or zip disk). All of this was facilitated by my RedHat box, as I could
download and compile what I needed and then copy stuff across using floppies.
It's _really_ geeky to say "My dist is better"... reminds me of all those
Amiga freaks a few years ago screaming about how great their toy is.
We're all pretty much linux geeks round here. get over it.
