List,
Can anyone help me? After many years, I decided to upgrade
my Linux 1.??? to the new MacMillan/Mandrake/Redhat version.
It installed on an new Compaq DeskPro in 20 minutes with no
problems at all. Also, I connected a new 56K 3Com Serial
modem with no problems. I can dial-out to my ISP and
get connected but, it always rejects my login/password.
I have checked, double-checked and triple checked my
Username and Password. It is correct and I am using the
the proper character case. Also, I have checked all the
basic PPP/DNS/Modem settings -several times. I am using
kppp to do the configuration. I have also used minicom
to dial-out and still, my login is rejected. I confirmed
my ID/Passwd with my ISP. I am typing it correctly. Last,
I have tried all combinations of flow-control and line handling.
---Same problem. Despite several calls to my ISP, they
refuse to support Linux connections... Hmmm.
My ISP is Prodigy and the connection works fine with an
established Win 95 configuraiton.
Any advice is greatly appreciated...
Regards
Ray Ciurej
PS. If you're contemplating a service contract with Prodigy,
be prepared for several hang-ups per hour....
