Hi Edgar !

I work with SuSE 6.4 too. Time ago i decided charge the stock 2.2.14 kernel for
experimenting and learn about kernel. I installed the standard 2.2.18 without problems.

Maybe you must enable or disable some feature in menuconfig. My experience says that
i only must add support for the printer and for PPP to the default options. Ah! and
important!. what proccesor have you?.

I think if you say a wrong class of processor, the kernel may don't work. I have an
AMD k6-2 and the rigth processor type is "Pentium/k6/TSC".

File rc.config don't have relation with kernel.

I hope you get it. Best Regards.

                         Jose Luis Alarcón Sánchez.
