Well with all the documentation included with a linux distribution, README's
in just about every directory, and loads of well written books about linux,    
i would say linux is no harder than starting with windows 98 if one were
computer illiterate.

If i may say so once again, the problem in most cases is that windows is
click and go after someone else has installed it for you, ie your boss, or
the software installer at your friendly computer shop.

As far as i now there are "no friendly computer shops around here" for one
reason, they earn no money by installing linux, if they have even heard of
it that is.
