If you can find a Linux utility that will convert text to speech then you
will be able to do this fairly easily. I have no idea if such a utility
exists... check the usual places... freshmeat, sunsite etc.

There would be a few things you would be using to get this job done...

cron - to start the show 
pppd - to log on to the net (probably in demand dial mode)
fetchmail - to get the email
procmail - to filter the incomming email through the text-speech thing
text-speech-thingy - to convert the email to speech
vgetty - to ring you and "read" the mail to you
various shell scripts - to make it happen a little easier

I just hope you are not subscribed to linux-kernel otherwise you are going
to spend an awfull long time on the phone :-)
