I think the stated reason is good enough, 'cause I damn well want it to !'
If not possible without rewrite, no reason to fret, just say so.
And I suggest the answer be changed to "You can damn well figure out how to
do it without my help".
Others may choose to continue to help, and there may be those of us who
care to see a solution, if one exists.
I hope this does not get to be like the C++ mailing list.
