Mark...Just for the record...were you having lockups previously? I have had
2.2.12pre7 SMP and non-SMP lockup on me. However, I split out some of the
hardware on the box and now I've been up for 7 days without lockup.

What is was:
Dual PIII/450
/ - Mirrored IDE
/usr2 - RAID5 - 3x9G SCSI on AIC7890
/usr3 - RAID5 - 3x2G SCSI on AIC7890
/usr5 - Single 4G IDE
/usr6 - RAID5 - 3x50G SCSI on 2940U2W

This box was locking up on me within 10 minutes of running a particular job
on /usr6 (heavy I/O operations on gigabyes worth of files).
I pulled one of the mirrors from root and seperated /usr2 and /usr3 to
another box. I had previously confirmed that stopping the mirror
(raidsetfaulty) did NOT prevent the lockups.

My observation at this point:
The ONLY difference from previous lockups on this box is that the AIC7890
bus is now empty.
Since I've now seperated the two SCSI buses everything is hunky-dory. So,
I'm beginning to suspect something in the AIC7890 or the aic7xxx.c driver or
something the two of them exacerbate when the 2940U2W is along side.

Been running 2.2.12 w/ SMP, Raid on / and devfs with an 18 day uptime with
no hickups.

The system is running a modified CVS server, MySQL, and Apache .. still
running strong.
