Its getting harder to find new disks that are only 2 gig (the secondary market
seems to be awash in them though).

Can't help you with RTLINUX. For fastest, you probably want to go with either
the Seagate Cheatah (ST34502LW, Ultra2 wide, 4.5 meg, 10,000 rpm, 5.2ms access
time, 1 meg cache, ~ $513) or the IBM Ultrastar 9ZX (05J7618, 6.3 ms, 9.1 meg,
10000 RPM, 1 meg Cache, ~ $652), assuming you have an Ultra2 scsi controller,
real good cooling, and can stand the noise made by the disks.

For even more performance you would need to go to raid.

Getting cheaper, just about any of the current generation 7200 RPM scsi disks
should be ok from the major players (ie, from Seagate either the Cheetah or
Barracuda, from Quantum the Viking-II, possibly the slower Atlas, IBM Ultrastar
drives -- Western Digital and Futjitsu seem to be much smaller players in the
market). If you want performance, avoid the Quantum Fireball, or Seagate
Medalist Pro lines which are supposed to be lousy scsi performaners (even
though the IDE versions of the disks are supposed to pretty good). The older
5400 rpm drives should also be avoided. Especially avoid any Micropolis drives
you see on the secondary market -- they are out of business (ie, no warranty),
and at least some of the drives lie about which SCSI features they support.
