Hello everyone,

I have some questions regarding Linux installation on an SMP system.

I'm using an IBM PC Server 320, which has dual Pentiums at 90 MHz on a
Micronics motherboard.
I installed Red Hat Linux 6.1 on the system hoping to run on both
processors, but I believe it's only running as a uniprocessor.

According to the Installation guide, the installation process will
automatically recognize the machine as SMP and LILO should end up with 2
entries: linux (default - SMP) and linux-up (to run as uniprocessor).
Well, after installing in this system, LILO only shows one entry
(linux), the same as the uniprocessor installations. In addition, going
into GNOME, and checking the system details, I get a CPU report of what
appears to be only 1 processor (processor 0). Please correct me if I'm
wrong, but it seems to me that the installation process did not
recognize the dual processors.

I should mention that, in the past, I had installed Windows NT on this
system, and it correctly identified it as SMP.

Here are my questions:

1. Do I need to do anything special in order to install the SMP Linux
kernel?

2. Is there a problem recognizing this particular system as SMP?

3. Once installed, how can I tell that the SMP kernel is indeed running
and that it recognized the 2 processors?

Any comments or pointers are welcome.

Thank you,
Juan
