The BIOS is new as it's the to-be-released BIOS from Soyo. They said it had
been extensively tested with PIII, so I suppose it works with PIII. I
disabled all the PM related options and other potential problematic options
in the BIOS as stated in the linux-smp FAQ. I have one processor BTW. It
still locks up, even when I was typing things. It doesn't appear to be a PM
problem. I also replaced the 250W PS with a 300W PS and it doesn't help. I
check the voltages and they seem to be normal. The temperature is normal
too. And actually the machine doesn't lock up when heavy loaded, but rather
locks up when only lightly loaded. I don't know if it's still possible to be
a power problem. Bad thing is Soyo told me that the AGP slot, on-board
SCSI(AIC-7880) and the 4th PCI slot is hard-wired to use one irq so there's
nothing I can do about it. I still shuffle the cards anyway and it doesn't
seem to help the problem much. With a PII 350, the machine works just fine.
I don't see the problem is PIII specific if it's caused by irq sharing. The
machine does appear to be a little more stable than before. Sometimes it can
run for a few hours before freezing. But it still freezes all the time. Now
I'm completely without a clue.

Thanks for the help.
