Well, as I said:
As far as I know, for TR-3 you need 1000 kBit/s, no matter
what you do. You can't save 5 MB uncompressed on a 1.44 MB
floppy, you can't use TR-3 with 500 kBit/s. Maybe you could
hack ftape to belive it's a really long TR-2 or TR-1 tape,
BUT that means you need to change the code. And that means
you have to understand it first. And so on ... but if you
really really want, you could try it. Open source is nice.
