This part of your patch, from proc_setconfig:

will break gphoto2. It gets unhappy when the SETCONFIGURATION call fails. The compromise I adopted that worked was to leave out that test when calling usb_reset_configuration. See

That would be a gphoto2 bug though, and no gphoto2 developers have claimed they can't fix it.
As you said in a separate context, I'd rather see the kernel bugs fixed than have them linger ... :)
