Ok, I'm nearly 100% sure it's the VIA chipset in this PC...


I just moved the ADS enclosure back to my Dell laptop and this time I plugged it into the 1394 port. Once again, "it just worked"

The desktop uses VIA chipsets for both 1394 and USB.

The Dell laptop uses an Intel chipset for USB and TI for 1394.

I need to find a decent PCI card for the desktop with both USB and 1394 that DOESN'T use the VIA chipset....
