I note that the approved (1.0+) USB specifications
(http://www.usb.org/developers/devclass_docs.html) are:
Audio, for which I assume Linux provides partial support (no audio in or
MIDI yet?)
Cable and Connector class, which seems to be operating system
independent
Common Class, which I assume is not supported by Linux
Communication Device Class, which is partially supported by Linux (ACM
subclass only?)
Content Security, which is not supported by Linux
Device firmware, which is not supported by Linux
HID, which is supported by Linux
IrDA, which is not supported by Linux
Monitor, which is not supported by Linux (probably can work with some
user space tools and the event interface or usbdevfs/libusb interface)
Power, which is not supported by Linux (probably can work with some user
space tools and the event interface)
Physical inteface, which is not supproted by Linux (probably can work
with some user space tools and the event interface or usbdevfs/libusb
interface)
Mass storage, which is supported by Linux
Printer, which is supported by Linux

There are also a couple of interesting draft (0.9) release specs,
including still image capture, which I assume will eventually get
supported from something like the dc2xx driver (maybe even in kernel
space :) and the OpenUSBDI spec, which I assume will get blown off as
fundamentally flawed.

I am particularly interested in the IrDA and Monitor aspects (although I
don't have compliant devices for either of these yet) - is anyone
working on these?

Brad

P.S. some of those vendor devices don't have released interface data -
any word on the usb sniffer code?
