i have been reading the "mail" but have been a bit timid about posting anything- apart from an initial thanks for some lost luggage. my install seems to be going ok (mandrake 9) but am really just starting to dabble with linux. being out at oxford it's a bit tough coming to meetings & this list would probably be great if i weren't so intimidated by all the complicated "nerdy" stuff that you people seem to discuss. have tried a few of the software apps (open office, licq etc) & seem to be sorting them out. i did have amsn (msn messenger clone) installed & running, but this seems to have struck problems once i got home- maybe it was something to do with being on a lan at the install & modem at home ?? also as previously posted my epson perfection 1250 scanner is working..but still trying to come to terms with "GIMP"... cheers howard blomfield
