Not quite. The two '>' characters change the meaning from merely 'into', 
to 'append on to the end of the current file contents'.

'Tis a trap for young players that a single '>' makes a new file, i.e. 
overwriting what's already there. Thus putting > when you meant >> can 
produce an fulminating atmosphere.
