No, didn't need to do anything with VMWare Tools. Did you do an
uninstall first before doing a fresh install of VMWare? If not, that
seems to be our point of difference. Is it also that you have gone from
a 32bit to 64bit OS and reinstalled VMWare over the top of the previous
install folders and it left behind something - again suggesting an
uninstall and try again.
Unrelated to vmware or nvidia driver issues mentioned this week, this
same box now has a fresh install of KK and I'm about to try installing &
running VMWare Server via essentially the same method (assuming it fails
on building modules as I expect it will) once again and will report back
(though may not be today).
