The floppy must be properly formatted, because it is the one I have some personal files saved on and used with suse 7.3 until a couple of days ago without any problem. By the way, I have also tried a blank floppy with suse 8 just in case something may be wrong with the first one. No difference. As to your second question, I have tried "/mount /media/floppy", "mount /dev/fd0" and simply clicking the KDE desktop floppy icon. None of these works.
