jsut fiddle with the settings in that dialog box, you should see the results
immediately on the lower time display (but they don't become effective for
the rest of kde until you re-login
Btw, as sum1 else pointed out big-green-button->personalisation->time & dates.
the acutal %h %t %H %T type paramaters you use are unfortunately a little
esoteric and afaik not documented _anywhere_ (not man date, at least). You
can test out various paramaters in a Konsole and typing
date %h etc etc
one of my favorites is
date --date `last month`
