this is where everybody screwing around with files so as to make 
distribution-specific stuff really get annoying. what you need to do 
is hack your startx script and make sure that the startkde command 
gets put in the appropriate place, which might involve some trial and 
error.

yup, it's hard, no, no more by-the-pound books after i get done with 
the portion of the one i'm working on now (a kafkaesque exercise), 
which has nothing to do with kde. alas.

do have a couple more off at the agent right now, though, both of 
which would surprise you. and no, neither is entitled "shipwrecked 
cheerleaders."
