I suspect this is the file:
/opt/kde2/share/config/kdmrc
As to bugs in the KDE session stuff, I have had and sorted out the
following odd problem.
I have installed kde2 versions from generic source for the last few
releases. It seems that each successive release handled whatever
configuration files the previous release left rather ok. However, it seems
that something odd happened between kde2.2beta1 and kde2.2 relative to the
configuration that effects kdm:
1. The seperator between the names of the various sessions (kde, kde2,
failsafe, etc) is not read properly by kde2.2. So, if kde2.2beta1
wrote something like 'kde;kde2;failsafe', meaning that three session
types should be presented by kdm, kde2.2 thinks is is a single session
ID and presents that. The problem is that the login will not find a
program called 'kde;kde2;failsafe' and thus not log you in. Luckily
a kdialog is given showing the offending 'kde;kde2;failsafe' text,
giving the hunter a bit of pleasure.
2. A similiar thing happens when kdm is determining which users to show
in the kdm login. This is a minor error that results in all users on
the system being shown. This error is obvious in the control center
config for showing users to display in the login.
So, there seems to be some confusion over field separators in config files
in kde2.2. I have only found these. I see ';' and ',' as seperators in
various places. I would think it should be a ',' only. I don't think
kde2.2 final installs correctly in this respect.
Too bad #1 is a show stopper...
I will next check the SRPMS from Caldera to see if they have made changes
that effect this. I did not compile from those because RPM --rebuild on
them does not work (rpm is from Caldera update for 2.4 from ftp site).
I have noted this elsewhere. Still no solution...
