Suse's kernels are the tarball in an rpm. If you haven't got sound, let's deal with that, and find out why. I'll guess from here: The SuSe kernel will have the modules for EVERY soundcard compiled in, and yours probably hasn't. Wrong module??? Ok then, Prove it! :-) It took me several tries to get this right myself, and one system never works the way it should.
