Welcome. It was not all that long ago (a few years), I was a novice to
Linux, myself.

At a Google prompt, I entered the following search string:

'linux windows null modem cable connection' (without the single
quotes), and the 5th hit down the list, was:

XP Direct Cable to Linux
http://windows.gumph.org/content/networking/xp-direct-cable-to-linux.html

I did not read the article for accuracy. I am just describing for you,
how I quickly located the information, so you will be able to do this
kind of search in the future, for yourself.

No, I will not do this for you.

"Give a person a fish, and they have one meal. Teach a person how to
fish, and they have the skill of feeding themselves, for life".

Linux users will usually be happy to teach you how to fish, but not
willing to spoon-feed you information.

That said, I would not bother with a null modem connection. Instead, I
would install NICs (Network Interface Cards) in both computers, buy an
inexpensive hub, and connect the computers that way, using TCP/IP.

Doing it this way will be more time consuming, and will require you to
learn a lot more about both operating systems, and TCP/IP, but is
generally the best way to interconnect computers, with each other, and
the Internet.
