my two cents... As a long-time Windows user who moved to Linux fairly recently, I have to say that without good, comprehensive user documentation, I would have dumped Linux in the first day of use. Like most average Win users, I got along fine for many years, without ever having to read one word of code and a lack of docs for Linux apps would have left me absolutely lost.
Now that I've been using Linux for a little while and am sufficiently attached to it *g*, I am willing to step into the world of code, if need be, to find things out but, as has been said, not every user is a programmer and documentation is a must, for the successful transition of a Win user to Linux. arsenic.
