Make sure that you have sshd (www.openssh.org) installed on the linux 
box.Now go to your shell prompt and login as root
# /etc/init.d/sshd start

Now connect two machines with a cross cable.Assign  suitable subnet 
masks & ip addresses (Hint use "ifconfig" in linux & "ipconfig" in 
windows)

Now download "Winscp" and install on windows

run it from Windows & give IP of linux box, login with an existing id 
on linux box & voila its done !!
